At the cross-roads of linguistic theory and applied linguistics, Dr. Peter Jacobs’ interdisciplinary talk on indigenous language research in Canada includes the role of formal linguistics in informing curriculum design, particularly as they relate to these complex languages. Dr. Jacobs is a faculty member in the Linguistics department at the University of Victoria and a leading expert in linguistics, as well as in teaching indigenous languages—including his own Squamish language.
