OTTAWA, February 12, 2015 – The Federation for the Humanities and Social Sciences welcomes today’s news of the appointment of Dr. Ted Hewitt as President of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, effective March 1, 2015.

"The Federation recognizes Dr. Hewitt as a distinguished champion for the humanities and social sciences,” says Antonia Maioni, President of the Federation for the Humanities and Social Sciences. “Dr. Hewitt brings a deep-seated understanding and appreciation for how research and learning in the humanities and social sciences can positively benefit the social, political and economic landscape of Canada. We look forward to working with him.”
